Procedure for Compiling a Bibliography
اسفنديارى محمد

 بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
AYENEH -E- PAZHOOHESH Considering that the method of compiling a bibliography has not been dealt comprehensively up till now and its details have not been researched into, most bibliographies are full of errors and deficiencies, and disorganisation and individual tastes have cast their shadows on them. As a result, those who generally refer to these bibliographies are confused and at times they are unable to find the information they want, or worse, acquire wrong information. This article is a step at the beginning of the road leading to the acquaintance by researchers of the correct procedure for compiling a bibliography.

An Effort to Reconstruct the book al-Maghazi
Rasul Jafariyan
Aban ibn Uthman, who was a Shiah muhaddith and a companion of Imam Sadiq(A), had to his credit a book on sirah (biography of the Prophet (S) which was based upon the reports of the infallible Imams(A). Consequently most of his narrations, either directly or indirectly, go back to Imam Sadiq(A). But regretfully the Sirah of Aban is not extant today and its traces need to be identified in the books of traditions of the early generations (mutaqaddimin).
In this article, an effort has been made to present before the readers the method and procedure for reconstructing this book.
In view of the sad fact that none of the books compiled independently by the Shiahs on this subject are extant today, the reconstruction of Sirah of Aban can be considered a step in the direction of reacquainting ourselves with the Shiah perspective in the field of sirah of the Prophet(S).

Carelessness and Haste in Translating
Hasan Lahuti
'The First Muslims in Europe' is the name of the book written by Bernard Lewis, professor of Near-Eastern Studies in the Princeton University.
The book whose translation is the subject of this article, speaks in fact about the beginning and continuation of relations between Muslims and Europeans. The topics dealt in this article have been written purely from an academic viewpoint and sans every kind of ulterior motive. The purpose is to conduct research and benefit beginners and university students studying translation as a subject so that they may pay attention to certain points which are required to be necessarily observed in a translation.

A Critical Review of the Guide and Translation of Mabadi al-Arabiyyah
Sayyid Hasan Fatimi
Mabadi al-Arabiyyah is a text-book of Arabic literature which has been written in four volumes in an innovative style. In each of these volumes, topics of sarf (morphology) and nahw (syntax) have been dealt with in a manner which makes them totally independent from other volumes, with the difference that the contents of each proceeding volume are more complete and comprehensive than the preceding volume.
The present article is a critical review of the book of Dr. Muhammad Jawad Shariat, which apart from containing a translation of the volumes of Mabadi al-Arabiyyah also provides answers of exercises.
The writer of this article has only dealt with the shortcomings of the part providing answers of the exercises and not the whole book.

A Critical Glance at Mujam -e- Anawin -e- Kalami wa Falsafi
Muhammad Taqi Subhani
Research in theology and philosophy, due to the sensitivity and intricasy of their issues, doubly requires the aid of specialised and scientific encyclopaedias. Despite this, it looks as if a lot of serious and beneficial work has not been done in this field.
In this article a book which has recently published by Bunyad -e- Puzuhishha -e- Islami, affiliated to the Astana -e- Quds -e- Razavi, is critically reviewed. This book is 'Mujam -e- anawin -e- Kalami wa falsafi', and as is obvious from its name, has been divided into two parts. The first part includes the guide to theological topics while the second part contains the guide to philosophical topics. This book, in both parts, has certain shortcomings in its contents, and this article alludes to some of them.

A Description of Safwat al-Safa
Ali Reza Zakawati Qaraguzulu
The book Safwat al-safa is the work of Ibn Bazzaz Ardabili and belongs to the category of books on biographies of saints (urafa). Although the book is well-known, it has generally been lesser used, analysed and elucidated. This book was earlier printed in India and its present print, in the words of its editor, is based on six manuscripts the most ancient of which dates back to ١٦٠years after the death of Shaykh Safi al-Din.
Safwat al-safa, as observed by the writer of this article, in its present edited print is a book worth reading and is both interesting and useful, especially that the editor by pointing to the differences of the manuscripts, and by providing annotations, explanations and indexes, has made reference to it easier for the reader.
